Preparing for an equine portrait session such as a black background or a horse and rider session can be nerve wracking, especially if you've never done it before. Thankfully it is pretty easy to prepare for a session, here are a few quick tips to help you make the most out of your session.
Clean horse:
Brush head to toe
Completely dry coat
No poop, mud, or green stains
Wipe eyes, nose, and mouth
Mane and forelock brushed out and straight
Tail brushed out
Brush hooves instead of using hoof polish
Braids: neat and professionally looking
Avoid using any makeup on your horse, it will likely end up on your clothes
If you usually use oil on your horse's face and ears, only use half of what you usually use.
Clean tack:
No dirt or dust
Shiny and wiped bit
Clean stirrups and girth (as needed)
